Baroque Stamping

I lifted this design off a wedding invitation I received a few years back and have admired ever since. The design is a lovely baroque filigree stamp from the MASH bundle available on Amazon. And, yes, it’s the same one featured in my “stamps” post from a few days ago. Did I mention it was my favorite? It’s my favorite.

The black is plain ol’ transparent tape, painted black with polish and cut into strips. I just stuck ’em on top after I did my Seche Vite, then sealed them with a super-shine Sally Hansen topcoat (there are a few different ones… they all work the same as far as I can tell). This manicure lasted a week, even with the rhinestones, before I had a single chip. I highly recommend this DIY striping tape. You can cut any shape you want, not just stripes. Give it a go!

Can’t decide which pink to use? Why not both?

I’ve been on such a royal blue kick this entire summer that I wanted to force myself to use some brighter colors. But which to pick? The warmer shade is my favorite, but the more neon shade doesn’t get enough love for me.

Eh, screw it. Stripes again! I love stripes in all aspects of my life. Shortly, I’ll post a picture of my cube decor at work. It’s all texture and patterns and geometry. My coworkers think I’m nuts, but it makes me happy. Same with nail art.

To get the clean stripes I used regular ol’ transparent tape cut into narrow strips, the width I wanted my stripes to be. Love that clean line. Love.

Anyone else think this looks like a t-shirt Old Navy would sell, or is it just me?

Essie "Aruba Blue"

Essie “Aruba Blue”

I love stamping. But, admittedly, I tend to do it in about the most boring possible manner when I do full-nail stamps. White for dark colors, black for light colors. Metallics for everybody! And… that’s it. I was fully geared up to do this stamp (my favorite, which you will see in probably every other stamping mani I do from now until the end of time) in white over the dark blue, but at the last minute I decided to go with black.

I’m so glad I did. This gorgeous effect got a ton of compliments, including minor assault by a coworker who grabbed my hand and nearly pulled me off my feet. But, as I mentioned in a previous post, this is the one circumstance in which I love having my personal space violated. All in the name of art (and maybe just a hint of envy).
